Experimental software — please read
Helio is experimental software running on Robinhood Chain mainnet. It has not been audited to the standard you should expect of software holding money, it may contain bugs, and it may stop working, lose funds, or be discontinued at any time without notice or compensation.
Never trade with more than you can afford to lose completely.
What Helio is
Helio is a front end. It lets you interact with permissionless smart contracts deployed on a public blockchain. Those contracts run without our involvement: anyone can call them directly, rounds can be opened and settled by anyone, and we cannot reverse, censor, or alter a transaction once it is submitted.
Markets on Helio are binary event contracts. You buy a share that pays a fixed amount if a stated condition is true when a round ends, and nothing if it is not.
- Nothing on this site is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and nothing here is an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security or financial instrument. Not financial advice.
- A share is not a security. It confers no equity, ownership, shareholder, voting, or dividend rights in any company, in any token, or in Helio.
- Helio does not offer, sell, custody, or give you exposure to any actual share, stock, or security. Market names and tickers identify the reference price a round settles against and nothing more.
- We are not a broker, dealer, exchange, custodian, investment adviser, or fiduciary, and no such relationship is created by using this site.
- Nothing here is insured. There is no deposit protection, investor compensation, or equivalent scheme of any kind.
Eligibility and jurisdiction
Products of this kind are regulated differently in different places — variously as gambling, as derivatives or swaps, or as prohibited outright. It is your responsibility, not ours, to know which applies to you.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the minimum age for this kind of activity where you live, whichever is higher.
- Not available to persons located in, or resident of, the United States. The reference prices used here derive from tokenized US equities, whose trading is restricted in the United States. Do not use this site if that applies to you.
- You must not be located in, resident of, or acting on behalf of anyone in a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive sanctions, and you must not appear on any sanctions or restricted-parties list.
- You must not use this site where doing so would breach any law that applies to you. By using it you represent that it is lawful for you to do so.
- Do not attempt to bypass any access restriction, by VPN or otherwise. Access controls are not a guarantee of legality — an unblocked page is not permission.
Risks
- Total loss. A losing share is worth exactly nothing. Rounds resolve in minutes, so losses accumulate far faster than in ordinary trading.
- Volatility. Crypto assets and tokens are highly volatile. Their value can fall sharply — including to zero — at any time and for any reason.
- Smart contract risk. Bugs, exploits, or economic attacks may cause permanent, unrecoverable loss of everything held by the contracts.
- Oracle risk. Rounds settle against onchain price sources that may be stale, thin, manipulated, or wrong. A price you consider incorrect can still decide your round, and the result is final.
- Thin markets. The prices behind these markets can go long stretches without trading. A round may be effectively decided before it closes, and better-informed participants may profit at your expense.
- Void rounds. Rounds can void — on a flat price, a stale oracle, or a missed settlement window. A void returns your stake and earns you nothing. Voids are common on the shortest markets.
- No guaranteed exit. There is no promise that you can sell a position before a round ends, or at any particular price.
- Infrastructure risk. Network congestion, sequencer downtime, RPC failure, or a keeper outage can prevent you from trading, prevent a round from settling, or cause it to void.
- Counterparty liquidity. House liquidity takes the other side of rounds. It may run out, and it may be unprofitable. Its performance is not a promise of anything to anyone who supplies it.
- Finality. Onchain transactions cannot be reversed, refunded, or cancelled. There is no chargeback and no support desk that can undo a trade.
- Your keys, your funds. You are solely responsible for the security of your wallet. Lost keys mean lost funds, and we cannot recover them.
- Addiction. Fast, repeated, chance-based markets can be habit-forming. If this stops being entertainment, stop.
No guarantees
There is no guarantee of profit, yield, return, distribution, reward, airdrop, token launch, listing, continued operation, or any other outcome. Past activity — yours or anyone else's — is not a promise of future results. Leaderboards, statistics, and shared results displayed on this site are illustrative and may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong.
Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for your own research and decisions, for complying with every law and regulation that applies to you, and for determining and paying any tax owed on your activity. We do not provide tax reporting and do not withhold on your behalf.
No warranty and no liability
The site and the contracts are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, accuracy, or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Helio and its contributors, operators, and affiliates accept no liability for any loss or damage of any kind — including lost funds, lost profits, lost opportunity, or consequential, incidental, special, punitive, or indirect damages — arising from or connected to your use of this site or the contracts, whether or not we were advised such loss was possible. You use this site entirely at your own risk, and you agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from your use of it or your breach of these terms.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of warranty or liability, so parts of the above may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes and availability
We may change, suspend, restrict, geo-block, or discontinue this site or any market at any time, for any reason, without notice. We may change these terms; the version published here is the one in force, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. The contracts themselves are permissionless and may continue to operate whether or not this site does.
Getting help
If gambling is causing you harm, support is available. BeGambleAware and Gambling Therapy offer free, confidential help.
